Academic health centres linked to all citizens have a critical role as a foundation of a sustainable health system able to address the health needs of a community.
We seek to engage the entire community with which we work so there is a shared responsibility for maternal, newborn and child health. It takes a village!
The goal of our partnership is to improve the quality of women’s and reproductive health care in western Kenya through the development of a sustained partnership between the Moi University School of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Toronto focused on improving maternal and gynaecological services, continuing medical education, and research.
The primary objectives of the partnerships over the next five years are to:
- Reduce maternal mortality and morbidity
- Prevent and treat gynecologic cancers
- Improve maternal and infant nutrition
- Lead with care
- Peer support
- Integration with the Ministry of Health
